A Life of Discipline

I'm doing something this trip to the Holy Land that I've never done before...driving. I've had to use a rental car for the last several days and let's just say, driving in Nazareth is a bit of a challenge. Ok, it's a BIG challenge. There are 'road rules' one has to learn or he may face 'road rage'. Most of what I've noticed is that you better not get distracted or take your eyes off the road, if you do, difficulty, disaster, or even death could result. It is so important to stay focused and disciplined if you want the desired outcome.
No doubt the same is true spiritually for me and for you if we want the desired result.
There is an interesting story in Luke 10 about two sisters, Martha and Mary. Martha was a worker but Mary was a worshipper. (Certainly both of these ministries are needed). While Mary's life was one of discipline..her sister's was one of distractions. The text even says, "...But Martha was distracted with all her preparations..." Jesus calls Martha out on this and reminds her she is "worried and bothered about so many things but only one thing is necessary". The one thing necessary was a disciplined life that sat at Jesus' feet and hears His Word.
As you begin your day, whether you are in the Holy Land, Africa, Asia, Europe, Or the Americas....or anywhere else for that matter, I challenge you to have/develop a life of DISCIPLINE and not DISTRACTION. This world is brutal and it offers many dangling distractions...don't let it suck you in! Be faithful, disciplined, and steadfast.
I pray you have a Faithful. and Fruitful, FRIDAY. BLESSINGS.
